Summary
Comet Innovations does not run analytics, advertising trackers, or any third-party tracking on cometinnovations.com. We collect information you actively send us — through our contact form, email, phone, or scheduling tool — and we use it only to respond to you and provide the services you've asked for.
1. Who we are
Comet Innovations ("we," "us," "our") provides smart-home and business technology design, installation, and ongoing maintenance services. You can reach us at privacy@cometinnovations.com.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information from the website
The cometinnovations.com website is a static site. We do not use cookies, set tracking pixels, or run analytics. The web fonts and icon library used are loaded from third-party CDNs (Google Fonts, Cloudflare); those providers may collect technical request data (IP address, browser type) as part of normal web operation, but we do not receive that information.
Our consultation scheduling is embedded from Acuity Scheduling. When you book a time, your information goes to Acuity (and to us); see Acuity's privacy policy for how they handle it.
2.2 Information you send us
When you contact us through the form, by email, or by phone, we receive whatever you choose to share — typically your name, contact information, and a description of your project. We use this information to respond to you and, if you become a client, to plan and execute the work.
2.3 Information from client work
During an installation or service call, we may collect information about your home or business systems — equipment lists, network topology, configuration credentials, project documentation. We treat this as confidential and use it only to deliver and maintain the systems we've installed for you.
3. How we use information
- To respond to inquiries and quote requests.
- To plan, execute, and maintain client installations.
- To communicate about scheduling, billing, and service updates.
- To occasionally share project examples in our gallery — only with your explicit permission, and we'll always anonymize identifying details if you prefer.
We do not use your information for marketing without your consent. We do not sell or share your information with third parties for their marketing purposes.
4. Sharing and disclosure
We share information only as needed to deliver our services:
- Service providers — our hosting, email, and scheduling providers process technical data as part of running the site and our business.
- Equipment manufacturers — when you have a system from us, we may share device information with manufacturers (e.g., Lutron, Sonos, Ubiquiti) for warranty service or technical support.
- Trade partners — with your permission, we may share project details with collaborating architects, builders, or designers on your project.
- Legal disclosures — if required by law, valid legal process, or to protect against fraud or harm.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
5. Security
We use reasonable physical, technical, and administrative measures to protect information we hold about you. Configuration credentials and other sensitive system data are stored in encrypted password managers with limited team access. Despite our efforts, no system is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
6. Your rights
6.1 California (CCPA / CPRA)
California residents have the right to request access to, deletion of, and correction of personal information we hold about them, and to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (we do neither). To exercise these rights, email privacy@cometinnovations.com.
6.2 European Economic Area, U.K., and Switzerland (GDPR / UK GDPR)
If you are in the EEA, U.K., or Switzerland, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection regarding personal data we control. Our legal basis for processing is your consent and/or our legitimate interest in operating our business and responding to inquiries. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
7. Data retention
We retain client project records for as long as we maintain the systems we installed (typically the life of the system) plus any period required by law or for legitimate business purposes. We delete inquiry correspondence we don't act on after a reasonable period.
8. Children's privacy
Our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
9. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date above will reflect the most recent version. Material changes will be flagged on this page.
